JCREMC, JCFiber Complete Community Day Service Projects

Oct 26, 2022

JCREMC and JCFiber employees completed two service projects as part of Indiana’s Electric Cooperative Community Day on Friday, October 14.

The statewide event included 26 cooperatives completing nearly 40 unique service projects demonstrating one of the core Cooperative Principles: Concern for Community.

JCREMC and JCFiber team members served at the Indiana FFA Leadership Center doing fall clean-up around the property, and at Johnson County Community Cats building 300 shelters to house cats for the winter.

The FFA Center is a 170-acre facility near Trafalgar that “supports the development of young people and adults through leadership workshops, retreats, youth camps, and career development events.” The center also hosts private events, such as corporate retreats and weddings.

Johnson County Community Cats is a cat rescue. The volunteer-run organization offers a trap-neuter-return program for feral cats, low-cost spay and neuter for indoor cats, adoption for friendly cats, a cat-food pantry for low-income households, and educational programs regarding responsible cat ownership. They also offer winter shelters for community cats.

Indiana’s Electric Cooperative Community Day is coordinated by Indiana Electric Cooperatives, which represents 38 distribution cooperatives that serve 1.3 million people in 89 of Indiana’s 92 counties.
